Artisan group ‘MaMA Pats’ has been working with the Yanesha and other indigenous communities in Peru’s central Amazon for 20+ years with a focus on building a model for preserving the Amazon’s rainforests. Their mission? To build a model for preserving the Amazon’s rainforests while teaching artisanship, woodworking skills, and sustainability practices to produce products where the value is added locally for the benefit of Amazon communities. These social and economic benefits bring environmental benefits when people learn to value the natural intact rainforests they live in, providing generations with an alternative to burning down the forest to raise cattle, one of the leading causes of deforestation in the Amazon.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, appearance may vary slightly. Each of our products is crafted by a pair of hands before making it into yours–making them truly one-of-a-kind.
